What Do You Want?

When was the last time you truly asked yourself, “What do I want?” Recently, after being asked this question repeatedly, I realized I hadn’t given it real thought. It’s so easy to focus on others’ needs that we often overlook our own.

Understanding our wants is key to self-awareness. It helps us find purpose and fulfilment. Yet, we often hold back due to guilt, fear of failure, self-doubt, or fear of judgment. These barriers keep us from expressing what we truly desire.

Our wants may span areas like career, relationships, personal growth, and leisure. Ideally, they reflect our core values, not others’ expectations. But it’s easier said than done. I found it took conscious effort to articulate my own needs and make space for them.

Starting small is okay. Break down your wants into manageable steps, releasing unnecessary shame or discomfort. Remember, our wants are part of a journey toward self-discovery and mental well-being.

What’s one small step you can take today toward what you want?
