Things We Can Control

Finding steadiness in the midst of uncertainty

Sometimes, we spend so much time trying to change things that were never ours to control. We may wish we could control how people treat us, what they think of us, the choices they make, or how situations unfold. We may replay conversations, imagine different outcomes, or search for the perfect response that could make everything turn out differently.

But not everything is within our reach.

We cannot always control people’s actions, unexpected changes, or the outcome of every situation. And accepting this does not mean that we are giving up or that we no longer care. Sometimes, it means recognising where our energy can be most useful.

While we may not control how others treat us, we can choose the boundaries we set and the support we seek.

We may not always control what happens, but we can give ourselves time before responding. We can choose how we care for ourselves, how we approach pressure, and what we do with the lessons we learn along the way.

We may not always choose what we feel, and we do not have to rush ourselves through difficult emotions. But we can choose to meet ourselves with patience, seek support when needed, and take one helpful step at a time.

We cannot control every part of the journey. But we can choose where to place our energy, and sometimes, that is enough.
