Still Carrying That One Mistake

Forgiving yourself is one of the hardest things to learn.

Because somehow, we know how to give grace to other people. We understand that people make mistakes, outgrow old versions of themselves, and sometimes do the wrong things while trying to survive. But when it comes to us, the rules suddenly become harsher.

We replay old moments in our heads. The things we should have said. The opportunities we missed. The people we became when we were hurting. And even long after life has moved on, a part of us stays behind, still punishing ourselves for who we were at the time.

But you are allowed to grow beyond your worst moments.

You are allowed to be someone who once struggled and is still deserving of softness. Still deserving of rest. Still deserving of another chance.

Forgiving yourself does not erase the past. It simply means you are no longer willing to carry it like a life sentence.

And maybe healing begins there. In finally deciding that you, too, deserve your own compassion.
