Some people aren’t home anymore, and that’s okay

Hey you,

No one really prepares you for the moment you start to outgrow people. It’s not loud. There’s no big fight. One day, you just realise... the conversations don’t feel like they used to. You laugh, but it doesn’t land the same. You leave the hangout feeling drained instead of full.

And then comes the guilt; the kind that whispers, “Why can’t I just be okay with this?”

But here’s the thing: you’re not doing anything wrong. You’re just changing. And sometimes, the version of you that’s growing can’t breathe in the spaces that once felt safe.

It hurts, I know. You miss how easy it used to be. You miss how familiar it all felt. But I need you to remember this: letting go doesn’t erase the love. You can still care about someone and know they don’t fit your life in the same way anymore. You can still look back and smile, even if you know you can’t go back.

So if you’re in that in-between, not where you used to be, not sure where you belong next, please don’t rush it.

Take your time. Be gentle with the version of you that’s still figuring it out.

And when it feels lonely, remind yourself: nothing that’s truly meant for you will need you to shrink to keep it.

You’re allowed to move on. You’re allowed to grow. And you’re allowed to miss them while you do.
