Shame, shame ( Yours or Mine)
If you're a nigerian like me, you'll realized that in Nigeria, shame isn’t just personal, it’s communal. It’s the aunties whispering, the neighbors watching, the parents warning, "Don't disgrace this family." It’s in the way people tie your worth to marriage, career, or how well you perform the role society assigned you.
This kind of shame is heavy because it’s not just about what you did; it’s about how others perceive what you did. It keeps people in unhappy marriages, silent about abuse, and afraid to chase dreams that don’t fit the "acceptable" path. But remember, not every opinion deserves a seat in your mind. One thing I realised is that, my life is mine, not a community project. And shame loses power when you refuse to let it silence you. The nigerian kind of shame thrives on secrecy and fear. The moment you stop hiding, you start winning. I'm rooting for you, my friend.
