Rainy Season & Realisations
One minute it’s bright and sunny; the next, the clouds are pouring, especially when it catches you unprepared; no umbrella, no bolt ride, just you and your fancy shoe.
The first drop hits your arm, and before you can say “E don start,” the heavens open. You’re suddenly negotiating with your slippers on flooded streets, holding a nylon bag over your head like it’s an umbrella. Every Lagosian has a rainy-day story; that time you were stranded, soaked, or late for work because “hold-up plus rain” equals chaos.
Rain doesn’t ask for permission; it just falls.
And that’s how life happens, too. Sometimes it pours right when you think you’re getting it together, plans scatter, mood shifts, energy drops. But just like rain, the storms in your life aren’t always there to destroy; sometimes, they’re there to wash things clean.
Maybe the disappointment you faced was a downpour that revealed what you couldn’t stand the storm.
Maybe that slow season you’re in isn’t punishment, it’s just God watering something you can’t see yet.
The truth? Rainy seasons can be uncomfortable, messy, and inconvenient, but they’re also necessary. You don’t get growth without water.
So next time life starts to pour unexpectedly, instead of asking “why now?”, try whispering “maybe this is growth.”
Because every storm, no matter how loud, eventually leaves the air fresher, the ground softer, and your heart a little stronger.
