Keep Feeling Deeply
"Because we as humans are made to care. And it is not our greatest flaw but our greatest strength."
Has anyone ever made you think you "feel too much"? That you express yourself too much? That you're not nonchalant enough? That your attitude of feeling deeply and showing emotions and in essence, behaving like a human being is cringe?
Nowadays, it seems like we're expected to keep our feelings to ourselves. We shouldn't be happy when we feel happy. We shouldn't make it clear when we're affected by other people. We should shove, shove, shove. Hide, hide, hide. As if we're robots and not living, feeling humans.
There is nothing wrong with you for feeling deeply. You are not abnormal because you have chosen not to wear a mask of indifference. You do not deserve to be treated less than because you wear your heart on your sleeve.
Keep feeling deeply, because as Audre Lorde said, "Life is very short and what we have to do must be done in the now.” Keep showing your loved ones all the love and adoration you have for them. Keep making your emotions and stances clear. Keep smiling when you're happy and proud of yourself. Keep feeling deeply. There is nothing wrong with you.
