Healing
Healing is not linear. On some days, you wake up feeling lighter, like the burden of the pain is gone. Like your heart is not as heavy anymore, but the very next day, you feel the pain afresh if you were hurt just yesterday.
Healing is not predictable. Sometimes, even the slightest things which are seemingly unrelated to the circumstances under which you were hurt can trigger you, and in that moment, it feels like all the healing you had managed to attain comes crumbling before your eyes.
Healing can be messy. It can look like you are unexpectedly breaking down in the middle of a totally normal, unrelated conversation because you just couldn’t hold in all the emotions playing through your head anymore.
Healing can hurt. This is because, in trying to address the said pain, you have to acknowledge it (instead of hiding behind denial as a coping mechanism), face it head-on, forgive, pick up your pieces and try to find purpose in your pain, then move on.
But in all of this, and on the brighter side, healing helps you be better. You pick up lessons that make you a better person going forward.
Irrespective of what phase of healing you’re at, I hope it all works out well for you. I understand your pain, and you should know, there’s always light at the end.
All my love.
