Grief
Losing people you love is hard. Nothing quite prepares you for it, and nothing helps you understand it better than experience. For me, it's one of the things that makes the reality of how imperfect the world is hit harder. Whether it's to death, a broken friendship, a break up or a divorce, loss is difficult and if I were asked to describe it, I'd say the hurt that results from it is like that of an avulsion - a kind of wound where all the layers of the skin are torn away and whatever body structure underneath is left exposed. A person who was some sort of covering to you gets pulled away from you without any prior notice, leaving you bare and vulnerable.
It's a hard thing to deal with. It leaves you broken in a way that makes you wonder if healing is even possible in the slightest sense.
For you, who's going through such a trying time, this piece is for you. I know this pain feels like it will never pass, but it will. It may take time, but with everyday that passes, healing will happen in some form. Also, lean into the support your friends and family have to offer in such a time. You need more than just your strength to carry you through this.
You have my love and deep thoughts,
Your sister in Grief.
