- Goodbyes are supposed to be good.
Goodbyes are supposed to be good.
I used to hate saying goodbyes. I don’t know if I’m alone in this, but goodbyes are the worst. However, I started to experience a shift with this when a character in a series said a quote by Winnie the Pooh, “How lucky am I to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard?”
I started to see goodbyes as a gift and a privilege, cause not everyone gets to experience something that makes it hard to say goodbye. So whenever I have to say goodbye, rather than dwell on the finality of the moment and the experience, I try to dwell in gratitude instead.
Gratitude for the memories and experience I got to have, even though it has to end, however, it is still something to be grateful for. I also use it to encourage myself that the best is still yet to come. The fact that I could get to experience this particular moment means I can also experience something even better, and that’s something to look forward to.
I hope you join me in seeing goodbyes this way going forward.
With all my love,
Ibukun From MANI
