Feeling Angry? It's Okay!
Have you ever felt your blood boil because of a comment or an unfair situation? Maybe you've been angry at your parents, your siblings or even a close friend. Now, instead of being apologized to or being allowed to process your emotions, you hear things like, "Why are you angry? Is it really that serious ?" or worse, "Stop being angry. Anger is a sin."
These responses can make you feel as if anger is something to be ashamed of or suppressed. But that is absolutely not the case! We often forget that anger is a completely normal emotion. It is something that EVERYONE must feel at one point or the other.
You can't expect to feel happy all the time just as you can't avoid moments of anger. All these different emotions make us complex creatures. So who are we to dismiss anger as 'bad'?
Anger often arises because of injustices, betrayal, annoyances or even frustration with ourselves. While it isn't best to simmer in anger, suppressing it isn't the way to go. Instead, acknowledge your anger. Sit with it. Understand why it's there. Then channel it into something productive: writing, running or addressing important issues.
Anger is not inherently negative; it's our response that matters. So, the next time you're angry, don't let guilt make you suppress it. Feel it. Embrace it. And most importantly, work towards expressing it positively.
